Working closely with the City of Fredericton, ADI designed and constructed a multimillion-dollar project for the capital city’s east end.

This is the largest capital project undertaken by the City of Fredericton to date. ADI provided project management, as well as prime architectural, engineering, and construction management services for the project to achieve the City’s vision for downtown development.

The new facilities, which are located in downtown Fredericton, consist of:

  • A three-storey 6,600 m² (71,000 ft²) steel frame convention centre designed to host conferences and banquets for 1,000+ guests
  • A six-storey 16,500 m² (177,600 ft²) concrete office building
  • A 450 vehicle parking garage

Over 17,000 m³ (600,350 ft³) of concrete was used in the project, which took special skill because of the complicated mass excavation. ADI took care to protect adjoining properties throughout construction. Provisions were also made for a potential hotel development and a connecting pedway linking the new facility to a popular hotel across the street.

This impressive project won the 2011 ACEC-NB Building Award, and the Fredericton Convention Centre was recognized by Progress magazine as the Best Large Event Space in Atlantic Canada in 2013.

Attention to the environment was carefully considered during construction; the project was designed and built to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) silver standards to incorporate many green features in the Fredericton Convention Centre.
